Lt. Col. (Retired) Jason K. Abbott
Lt. Col. Abbott has spent most of his life involved with the US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) and numerous years of consistent quality martial arts training. His devotion and loyalty to our country and passion for martial arts is clear in his significant accomplishments in the educational, military, and martial arts profession.
His credential military profile includes the 19th Special Forces Group, 101st Airborne, 75th Ranger Regiment, 5th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Forces Group, and Defense Intelligence Agency. He has deployed multiple times to Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and Eastern Europe.
He is also the owner and operator of the Renzo Gracie Special Operations Jiujitsu school as well as continuing to serve as a contractor for the US Army Special Operations Command. His martial arts background includes 2nd Dan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, 7th Dan Chun Moo Hapkido Tactical, and 8th Dan Saeng Jeon Do Martial Arts.
Lt. Col. Abbott has served in the role of a senior combative instructor with the US Army Special Forces Command Center for several years. This opportunity and responsibility allow for the pressure testing and validation of combative techniques being taught to our service members for real world application. Along with analyzing the totality of the circumstances of many events, he continues to focus on utilizing functional-based material that is effective and needed in the world of combatives.
He will present a unique aspect of defending against edged and blunt weapons as well as disarming the attacker in an overwhelming manner while creating as much personal safety as possible. As Balintawak practitioners, this material and mindset will significantly enhance our situational awareness and harden our tactical mindset.
